AEO agencies in the UK, compared

Compare UK AEO agencies by their public services, likely fit and published pricing, with questions to help you assess proposals.

AEO agencies help businesses improve how they appear when buyers use AI to research a problem, compare suppliers and decide who to contact. The work can include measuring answers, improving website information, resolving technical barriers and pursuing relevant coverage elsewhere on the web.

The right choice depends on what you need delivered. A team with writers and developers may want measurement and advice. A team short of implementation capacity may need an agency to carry out the improvements as well.

This guide includes AI search specialists and established SEO or marketing agencies with an AI search practice.

How this guide was put together

Tilio publishes this guide and is one of the agencies included. The entries are presented in editorial order, not as a ranking of delivery quality.

We selected agencies with a public AEO or AI search optimisation offer serving UK businesses. We checked their linked service and pricing pages on 11 October 2026. This is a selected comparison of advertised services, rather than a complete directory or an independently tested assessment of delivery quality.

The monetary price examples below were rechecked against the linked providers' own pages on 19 October 2026. They cover different services and are not like-for-like quotes.

Profiles describe the public offer and likely fit. Where provider pricing was reviewed, it is dated and linked to the source. Confirm current services, prices and terms directly before deciding.

What an AEO agency should cover

Answer engine optimisation (AEO) helps improve how a business is mentioned, cited and described in AI answers. At Tilio, the programme covers measurement, content, technical access, factual accuracy and relevant third-party sources.

Ask which engines and buying questions the agency covers, what it will implement and how it will report progress. Two AEO retainers can differ substantially in their scope and delivery responsibilities.

Specialist or SEO agency?

Some agencies focus on AI search. Others offer it within a broader SEO, PR or marketing relationship.

A specialist may suit you when your existing team needs additional measurement or delivery capacity. An established SEO agency may be better placed to coordinate AI search with a wider website and organic-search plan. Neither model is automatically better.

Ask who will do the work, who owns implementation and how the engagement fits with the support you already have. If your current agency covers those responsibilities well, identify the remaining gap before adding another supplier.

The quick comparison

These fees buy different services. Bubblegum Search's entry price covers off-site mention work; NeuralAdX's entry includes a small amount of page implementation. Varn's training price is per person rather than a monthly managed programme.

Treat “Request a quote” as a prompt to confirm the scope and fee directly. It does not mean an agency publishes no prices anywhere. VAT is shown where verified; otherwise ask for its treatment in the proposal.

Compare the work and fees

Send shortlisted agencies the same brief: your priority services, market, competitors, current website support and the questions your buyers ask. Then compare what each proposal commits to delivering.

  • Measurement: which questions, engines and markets will be tracked, how often, and whether branded questions are separated from discovery questions.
  • Implementation: which content and website changes the agency will complete, and what needs your developers or subject specialists.
  • External coverage: which sources it will approach, why they are relevant, and whether the fee buys outreach, published coverage or both.
  • Evidence: whether you can inspect the answers behind the metrics and see the work completed.
  • Terms: setup costs, ongoing fees, VAT, minimum commitment, cancellation, additional publisher costs and access to your work and data when the engagement ends.

For example, imagine a B2B software business with good service pages and an existing SEO agency, but little presence in supplier-comparison answers. A useful proposal would investigate the questions and cited sources, then explain whether the priority is website changes, clearer comparison material or relevant external coverage. The scope should follow that investigation.

If the same business has developers waiting for a technical brief, advice may be enough. If nobody can implement it, the proposal needs delivery capacity. That distinction is more useful than comparing two headline fees without their scope.

What useful reporting shows

Ask an agency to walk you through a sample report and explain one decision it would change. Look for:

  • A defined set of buyer questions tracked over time, with branded and unbranded questions identified.
  • Brand mentions, recommendations and linked citations reported separately.
  • The engines, markets, dates and available answers behind any percentage.
  • Competitors and cited sources shown against comparable questions.
  • Changes to the question set or collection method made clear.
  • Completed work, subsequent observations and a practical next action with an owner.

One answer is an observation, rather than a trend. A higher visibility score can also reflect a different sample. Ask whether the same questions were measured under comparable conditions before interpreting a change.

Track identifiable visits, enquiries and qualified opportunities alongside AI visibility where possible. A citation alone does not establish a visit or a sale. Our guide to how we measure AI visibility explains those distinctions.

Choose your next step

There is no single best AEO agency for every business. Shortlist providers whose proposed work fills your actual gap, then ask for a relevant example of delivery and a clear division of responsibilities.

FAQs

Which is the best AEO agency in the UK?

The right agency depends on your market, budget and implementation needs. Compare the actual scope, people, reporting and relevant delivery evidence. This guide compares public offers; it does not establish an independent winner.

How much does an AEO agency cost?

The reviewed offers range from analytics and limited entry services to broader monthly programmes. Compare content, technical work, outreach, measurement coverage, VAT and minimum terms before treating two fees as equivalent.

Do we still need SEO?

SEO remains relevant, particularly for Google AI Overviews and AI Mode. Google's guidance continues to emphasise established SEO fundamentals and useful, reliable content. Agree how AI search work fits with your existing website and search responsibilities.

Can an AI search agency work alongside our current agency?

Yes, if the responsibilities are clear. Agree who owns measurement, content, development, outreach and approvals. A specialist should fill an identified gap and coordinate with the people already responsible for your site.

Can an agency guarantee recommendations or citations?

An agency can commit to defined work, reporting and contractual remedies. Some offer conditional performance guarantees. Check the metric, eligibility, period and remedy carefully: a guarantee of delivered mentions or sampled citation growth is different from a promise that every AI system will recommend you or generate sales.

Does an agency's own AI visibility prove its quality?

It gives you something to examine, but does not establish client delivery quality. Ask which questions, engines and dates underpin the result, whether the questions name the agency, and how relevant the evidence is to your market.

How long should an engagement take?

Agree delivery milestones for the starting assessment, initial work and first review. Assess outcomes over comparable observations. The timing of visibility changes depends on the starting problem, implementation and when relevant systems revisit the sources; it should not be confused with a guaranteed result date.
